have you heard this skit, about the family that decided to stay home from meeting.
instead of attending the t.m.s.
and book study, they stayed at home to watch the tv.
Sorry about the blank post. I meant to say that then you have the other side.
There were those in the country of Georgia, who if they just would've stayed home from the meeting, would've escaped the multiple beatings delivered by the angry religious mob.

do you feel that something has changed within god's organization?
have you noticed that in the past several years there has been a more authoritarian spirit displayed in the publications and from the platform?
i am in the beginning stages of a fade away and wanted to express my thoughts.

i put this together more as a collection of my thoughts.
i would appreciate hearing your thoughts, disagreements, rebuttals, etc on this subject as it has been weighing a lot on my mind lately:.
after reading a lot of heart-breaking stories over the years on this message forum about mates who no longer believe in the jw religion, the common thread seems to be a desire to get the jw mate to see the same thing; with usually dissapointing results.. i am currently of the opinion that maybe the best thing is not to try to change your mate's religion.
Thanks for sharing the video above pirata. The situation of the couple reminds me of what I've gone through and am going through now.
It's not terrible, and my wife has admitted that it has gotten easier for her after some time now. But a crisis in faith can definitely put a rift in a marriage.
I don't push to have my wife change her views. I only hope. But I stress the importance of research and often let her know that I am just trying to be honest with myself. The JW's do not have the truth, and so I can longer support their beliefs.

i was just talking to my wife this morning about underlining or highlighting the wt paragraphs.. when i was 13 years old i would fight with my dad because i refused to highlight the answers.. the reason was because i wanted my comment to be genuine.
i felt that highlighting the "answer" made me lean on just using that as a crutch and not truly putting it in my own words.. i still hold that argument now, and i am 26. the only reason you would ever have to highlight something in a study book would be if you needed to remember it, maybe it is fairly complicated or subtle information that could be easily forgotten.. so many times in the wt the "question" has the same phrase that's in the paragraph!
it's literally like playing connect the dots.. so what i would do is not highlight during the family study.

this book has been out of print for some time, causing used copies to sell for $100 and more.
the price of these new ones is much more reasonable.. hard cover, $30 here.. soft cover, $26 here.. shipping is free, and ray franz' widow, cynthia, is the seller..
BUMP
Great news indeed. And an excellent and eye opening book by Ray Franz. I truly enjoyed it.

i was reading pat buchanan's book, "suicide of a superpower".
on page 71, he speaks about the growing acceptance of homosexuality amidst religions.
he claims that 12% of jw's think gay behavior is ok.. really?
djeggnog - Puff away!
though i no longer believe the fds is indeed appointed by god, i guess because of what has been taught to me all these years through the wtbts, i still make an effort to try and look at both sides.
and then i come across this number below, which is how i arrived at my title for this thread.
